October 18, Open Hand + Lifeline!Pawsitivity Partnership with Buckhead Rotarians Delivering Pet Food with OpenHand AND OpenHand Tours Reservation October 18, 2025 10:00 am— 12:00 pm Lend a paw (or a hand) through our Pawsitivity Partnership bringing together Buckhead Rotarians supporting LifeLine's mission to keep pets with their people. We are delivering pet food to those in need. We will meet at OpenHand for an orientation and optional tour and then each carload will hit the road to help our furry friends and their people. A tour of Open Hand's new facility will be offered to all volunteers who are interested. That tour is also available to all Buckhead Rotarians and their guests who register as "Tour Only." Children and families are welcome. Coffee and Good Measure breads will be available for everyone and for purchase (100% of sales go to funding OpenHand meals)! And if this didn't sound like a reason to get out on a Saturday, we will be meeting afterwards at 12:00 pm at the Bold Monk for lunch and/or a beer (sorry, you will need to pay for your own food and beverages). Even if you aren't coming to deliver meals, meet your fellow Buckhead Rotarians and their guests for some Saturday cheer. Think Pink on October 20October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I wanted to invite all members to join in showing support by wearing pink to our Monday, October 20th meeting. This can be a jacket, tie, dress, or even a splash of jewelry. Together, let’s support this important cause. To highlight this theme, we will hear from one of our newest members, Liz Loretti, Executive Director of TurningPoint Breast Cancer Rehabilitation, who will be delivering her Sunshine Presentation. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn more about Liz while also honoring a cause that touches so many lives. Adoption, BBQ, and Barking Good TimesWe had a truly rewarding time partnering with LifeLine this past Sunday to help increase visibility for pet adoption and ease shelter overcrowding. This joint effort between Buckhead Rotary and LifeLine was made so much easier thanks to the support of the North Atlanta High School Interact Club, who teamed up with us to wave down cars and engage with the interested families.
Thanks to everyone’s support, 38 interested families came through to explore pet adoption. We are excited for our furry friends to find their fur-ever homes! A huge thank you to our Interact Club for lending a helping paw in making this event a success. Thank you to our GRSP student, Dani Bergamo and our RYE student Leo Klein-Kraneberg for volunteering at the event!
And we had a fun time at the Bark-A-Cue with Rotarians and their guests enjoying a balmy afternoon under a spacious tent while sharing a delicious barbecue meal and connecting with new and old friends. It was a barking good time. Thanks to Rosa McHugh and the Chastain Park Conservancy for the use of the tent and restroom facilities, much appreciated by us humans. The dogs of course preferred the trees.
